We visited Barton Springs Pool (a natural spring that has been turned into a huge swimming pool). The temperature holds constant @ 68 degrees and is wonderful in the summer (Cayce is not much of a fan). There are many people watching opportunities at this 'hot spot' where Austin is Austin (nudity, homeless, tattoos, and the such).
Hamilton Pool was next on the tour. It is a collapsed cave where a waterfall creates a beautiful green-blue pool of water. There was no swimming the day that we hiked there (high levels of bacteria) but it was a beautiful place.
We also went out to the Pedernales River to go tubing with our friends from church for a couples wedding shower. It was awesome. The land is owned by a lady from church and we saw just a small piece of the 1000 acres of her ranch.
The highest point around Austin is a place on top of Mount Bonnell. From this vantage point you have a beautiful view of downtown and of Lake Austin. The sunset was amazing.
Well, after a challenging, stressful, but fun three years in Austin it is time to leave. We have had some unbelievable experiences because of our move here (traveling to Europe, sailing in San Diego, winning a National Championship, meeting the Prez., and serving our church). I know this sounds cliche, but the things that we will remember the most are the people. We have made some amazing friends, life long friends, pour your heart out in front of friends.
